Sarah Tiemann und ich kennen einander seit Ausbruch der Corona-Pandemie. Ab März 2020 wurden in vielen Ländern Quarantänemaßnahmen ergriffen, um die Bevölkerung zu schützen. Konferenzen konnten zumeist nur noch online stattfinden. Weltweit mussten sich Dolmetscher innerhalb kürzester Zeit auf diese neue Arbeitsweise umstellen.

Sarah reagierte entschlossen und tatkräftig auf die neue Situation und gründete ein internationales Dolmetschernetzwerk. Ihr Ziel war es, in kollegialer Atmosphäre voneinander zu lernen. Ich war von Anfang an dabei und teilte mein neu erworbenes Wissen und meine Erfahrung gerne mit Berufskolleg(inn)en, Quereinsteigern und Studenten.

Unsere Zusammenarbeit beschränkte sich bald nicht nur auf den Erfahrungsaustausch, sondern führte auch zu gemeinsamen Dolmetschereinsätzen. Ich habe Sarah dabei kennengelernt als eine hilfsbereite und kompetente Kabinenpartnerin bei Online-Konferenzen. Englisch beherrscht sie wie eine Muttersprachlerin, obwohl sie Deutsche ist. Fachinhaltlich ist sie immer gründlich vorbereitet. Ihre Zuhörer loben ihre angenehme Stimme und die Flüssigkeit ihrer mündlichen Übersetzung. Sprachliche Hürden weiß sie souverän zu meistern. Sie ist diskret und passt sich den jeweiligen Sprechern und Konferenzanforderungen mühelos an.

Sarah is a great coach and mentor. She built this amazing network of interpreters, where she provides lots of interesting contents every week and practice sessions. This network enables us to build network in a friendly and non competitive environment she created, and everybody in the group is driven by her inclusive and supportive energy. Her motto "there is success for everybody" says it all, and in such a competitive environment as interpreting, this is a very valuable thing. I met Sarah when she initiated the Interpreters Practice Group on Facebook. Sarah is an amazing mentor and public speaker. She started the IPG group to help interpreters from all over the world train and connect in a friendly, judgment-free community. The fact that she started this initiative single-handedly speaks highly of her dedication to supporting interpreters. Sarah also helped me with marketing and business insights when I first started my solo business. I recommend working with Sarah as a mentor and encourage interpreters to join her FB group.
